Preflight a Klaviyo profile CSV.

Check email and phone identity, duplicates, property types, dates, lists, consent states, timestamps, and SMS country evidence before a small list import.

A Klaviyo profile CSV preflight checks local file, identifier, property, consent, and phone-country evidence before import. This private workspace masks profile values and blocks profile-data exports until structural and acknowledgment blockers are resolved.

01 - How it works

Review profiles as a list contract.

A row is only ready when CSV shape, identity, property types, channel consent, and phone-country evidence agree. The complete file is checked locally.

i. load

Open CSV or Excel

Drop a source, paste comma CSV, or load an imperfect or ready sample. Excel is converted locally to the one CSV Klaviyo expects.

ii. state

Choose purpose and types

Set subscriber/consent or property-only purpose, map every column explicitly, and review any missing consent timestamps.

iii. test

Export a small list batch

Resolve blockers, then download normalized UTF-8/LF CSV and the first 100 complete ready rows in source order.

02 - What it checks

Evidence before profile mutation.

The desk validates what a source can prove and labels every account-dependent uncertainty for review.

  • 01

    CSV contract

Check CSV-only handoff, Excel conversion, delimiter, workbook sheets, UTF-8 evidence, record endings, the 50 MB limit, headers, and row width.

  • 02

    Profile identity

Require email or phone per row, enforce a first-column identifier, validate supplied identifiers, and block duplicates.

  • 03

    Property formats

Explicitly check Text, Numeric, Boolean, Date, List, Country, and channel-specific consent/timestamp roles.

  • 04

    Consent and SMS

Separate exact consent tokens, timestamp gaps, phone-country evidence, and account reviews instead of producing a fake consent score.

Scope and handoff

Know what a local check cannot see.

The preflight never signs in to Klaviyo or requests a list. Consent, suppression, account, SMS, and flow state still need human review.

  • Profiles and lists only

This release covers profile/list CSV import. Events, reviews, custom objects, SFTP, API ingestion, and live integrations use different contracts.

  • No account state

Permissions, suppressions, lists, flows, properties, SMS setup, sending numbers, supported countries, existing profiles, and consent are not queried.

  • No acceptance guarantee

Pause or review flows, import at most 100 test profiles, inspect results and representative profiles, then scale deliberately.

03 - FAQ

Klaviyo profile CSV questions.

Can I validate a Klaviyo profile CSV before importing it?
Yes. This local preflight checks CSV shape, identifiers, duplicates, explicit property types, consent states and timestamps, phone-country evidence, and safe test output. It cannot query a Klaviyo account or guarantee acceptance.
No. Parsing, mapping, findings, masked evidence, acknowledgments, normalization, and downloads remain in the current browser tab. Profile values are not sent to Klaviyo or csvtodashboard.
No. Klaviyo's list uploader requires CSV. This workspace can read one selected XLS or XLSX worksheet locally, but its handoff is a normalized CSV.
Every row needs an email address or phone number. The first column should be Email, Email Address, or Phone Number, and duplicate nonblank email or phone identifiers should be resolved before import.
Consent columns use Subscribe, Never Subscribed, or Unsubscribed. A blank consent cell defaults to Never subscribed. A local format check cannot prove permission or resubscribe eligibility.
List values use JSON arrays with quoted items, Boolean CSV values use True or False, Numeric values omit symbols, and dates use a Klaviyo-supported date or timestamp format.
Klaviyo's current list-import guidance requires a CSV file of 50 MB or less. Split larger sources into controlled files before import.
No. Permission, suppressions, account role, list flows, SMS setup, sending numbers, supported countries, property mappings, and existing profiles are account state that must be reviewed in Klaviyo.
