Preflight an ActiveCampaign contact CSV.

Check email and phone identity, duplicates, dates, multiple values, tags, import outcome, and automation reviews before a controlled contact import.

An ActiveCampaign contact CSV preflight checks local file, identifier, destination, format, and import-setting evidence before upload. This private workspace masks contact values and blocks contact-data exports until structural and acknowledgment blockers are resolved.

01 - How it works

Review contacts as an import contract.

A row is only ready when file shape, identity, field formats, outcome, and required reviews agree. The complete source is checked locally.

i. load

Open CSV or Excel

Drop a source, paste comma CSV, or load an imperfect or ready sample. State whether the handoff uses manual CSV import or Active Intelligence.

ii. map

Choose destinations and outcome

Map every column explicitly, choose add or update, and select Contact, Active, Unsubscribed, or Excluded.

iii. test

Export a small batch

Resolve blockers and reviews, then download fully quoted UTF-8/LF CSV and the first 100 complete rows in source order.

02 - What it checks

Evidence before contact mutation.

The desk validates what the source can prove and labels every portal-dependent uncertainty for review.

  • 01

    Import path

Keep manual CSV-only rules separate from Active Intelligence support for CSV, XLS, and XLSX.

  • 02

    Contact identity

Require email or E.164 phone on every row, block duplicate identifiers, and surface phone-only feature review.

  • 03

    Field formats

Check exact dates, double-pipe multiple values, comma-separated tags, UTF-8, quoted output, line breaks, and emoji.

  • 04

    Outcome and settings

Separate consent, exclusion, update, automation, webhook, list, field, option, and phone-format reviews without a fake readiness score.

"A structurally valid contact file is not automatically a lawful or safe subscription change."

Scope and handoff

Know what a local check cannot see.

The preflight never signs in to ActiveCampaign or invokes Active Intelligence. Account and downstream state still require human review.

  • Manual and AI paths

Manual import accepts CSV. Active Intelligence accepts CSV/XLS/XLSX and makes recommendations that must be reviewed before execution.

  • No account state

Permissions, phone-only enablement, lists, fields, options, exclusions, existing contacts, automations, webhooks, and consent are not queried.

  • No acceptance guarantee

Review settings, import at most 100 test contacts, inspect results and representative records, then scale deliberately.

03 - FAQ

ActiveCampaign contact CSV questions.

Can I validate an ActiveCampaign contact CSV before importing it?
Yes. This local preflight checks file shape, email and phone identity, duplicates, field formats, import outcome, and required reviews before a small test. It cannot query your account or guarantee acceptance.
No. Parsing, mapping, findings, masked evidence, acknowledgments, normalization, and downloads remain in the current browser tab. Contact values are not sent to ActiveCampaign or csvtodashboard.
The manual importer accepts CSV only. Active Intelligence accepts CSV, XLS, and XLSX. The validator can inspect a selected Excel sheet locally and always offers a reviewed CSV handoff.
Every contact needs a unique email address or phone number. Phone-only identifiers require the permanent phone-only contacts feature, and consistent E.164 formatting is the safest exact-match contract.
Date fields use YYYY-MM-DD. Checkbox and list-box values use double pipes between options, while multiple tags use commas.
ActiveCampaign imports the first instance and skips later contacts that share the identifier. This preflight blocks duplicates so file order does not silently choose the surviving source row.
Yes. Lists, tags, and field changes can qualify contacts for active automations. Review Trigger Automations, webhooks, and every Advanced Setting before import.
No. Consent, permissions, lists, fields, field options, exclusions, existing contacts, automation state, webhooks, recommendations, and final acceptance must be reviewed in ActiveCampaign.
